Honestly

Where each one wins, and where it falls short

Where Latr wins

  • No cap on saved tabs on the free tier; Toby’s free plan stops at 60.
  • Brings a page back on its own at a time you choose.
  • No account at all, and nothing leaves your device.

Where Latr falls short

  • No team spaces: Latr shares a list as a one-off link, not a live board.
  • No phone app; Toby has iOS and Android apps.
  • Toby’s board is the new tab page; Latr does not replace your new tab.

Where Toby wins

  • A visual board of collections on the new tab page, with drag and drop throughout.
  • Shared spaces for teams, with unlimited members on every plan.
  • Syncs to every computer you sign in on, with phone apps on iOS and Android.
  • Version 2.0 shipped on the Chrome Web Store on 12 October 2026.

Where Toby falls short

  • The free plan stops at 60 saved tabs per workspace.
  • Removing duplicates and searching history are on paid plans.
  • Nothing in its listing schedules a tab to come back at a time.

The core difference

What actually separates Latr and Toby

Toby is a board you go to; Latr is a schedule that comes to you. Toby turns the new tab page into collections you open when you choose, and it is built for sharing them with a team and reaching them from any device. Latr keeps a library too, but its centre is time: a page closed with a time reopens on its own when that time comes. Toby’s free plan holds 60 saved tabs; Latr’s free tier has no cap on how much you save.

Switching

Switching from Toby

Export your collections from Toby and open the file in Latr’s import. Each Toby list arrives as its own folder, and a card you renamed in Toby keeps the name you gave it. Nothing is scheduled until you give a page a time.

Latr’s import reads a pasted list, a bookmarks HTML file, and export files from OneTab, Toby, Session Buddy, Raindrop.io and Pocket. Groups and titles survive for the formats it knows; any other file that contains web addresses comes in as a list of links. Only http and https links are kept, and anything left out is counted.
