Free is the product

No. It does not expire and there is no reminder cap. Every part of getting reminded — capture, repeats, quiet hours, snooze, priority, sync, the calendar handoff, backup and CSV export — is free permanently. Pro changes how Latr looks and sounds, gives depth to things that already exist — several quiet windows rather than one, several early warnings, notifications in your own words — and lifts the ceilings on folders, templates, saved views and per-site rules.

Nothing at all. Every reminder keeps firing exactly as before. Latr goes back to the built-in look and stops playing custom sounds, and the lists you are over the free limit on stay where they are — nothing is deleted and nothing stops working. Re-activating restores your theme and sounds as you left them.

Because a licence check can fail. A network outage, an expired card, a store having a bad day — none of those should ever cost you a notification you were relying on. So the licence is read only by the parts that draw and decorate, never by the part that delivers. That is enforced in the code and checked by the test suite.

No. The free tier described here is the one Latr shipped with, and nothing in it moves behind the paywall later. Pro grows by adding things, not by taking them — marking a reminder done, following up automatically, pinning a repeat to a time zone and typing any repeat interval you like all arrived after launch, and all four are free. The 1.1 release added a dozen paid features and moved nothing out of the free tier to do it.

Latr costs almost nothing to run — reminders are stored and delivered entirely on your own machine. Charging a recurring fee for something with no meaningful recurring cost is difficult to justify, and most people are tired of subscriptions for small tools. One payment, all future updates.

No, and no browser extension can — extensions only run while the browser runs. Latr catches anything that came due while you were away the moment you open it again, and tells you it is late rather than pretending otherwise. For anything you genuinely cannot miss, use the one-click Google Calendar or Outlook handoff: a calendar entry reaches your phone, which is the one thing an extension cannot do.

You get a licence key by email. Open Latr’s settings, scroll to Latr Pro, paste the key and press Redeem — themes and sounds switch on immediately. Redeeming is the only network request Latr ever makes, and it is re-checked at most weekly after that. If the check ever fails, every reminder keeps working exactly as before: Pro has never gated anything on the delivery path.

Redeem the same key again on the new one. Each redemption uses one of the licence’s activations, so if you are finished with the old browser, press “Release this browser” in its settings first and the activation goes back. Releasing never touches your reminders — and since everything is stored locally, restoring a backup is what brings those across.
