Cookie policy
This website shows no advertising and sells nothing about you. It sets one cookie, for Google Analytics. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked first and nothing is stored until you accept. Elsewhere it is set by default, and the button further down this page turns it off for good.

Google Analytics, and where you are asked
Latr is a small product with no marketing budget, and the question it needs answered is narrow: which pages bring people who go on to install it, and which pages lose them. Google Analytics answers that. It sets one first-party cookie so that two pages you view in the same visit are counted as one visit rather than two strangers.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked before anything is stored.
Until you answer, Google Consent Mode holds every storage type at denied:
no _ga cookie is written and nothing on your device is read. Accept and the
cookie is set. Decline and it never is, and the site behaves in exactly the same way.
Everywhere else the cookie is set without asking, which is what the law in those places allows and what essentially every website you use already does. We would rather say so plainly here than show a consent banner in countries that do not require one, because a banner shown to everybody is a banner nobody reads. If you would rather not be counted, the button under “Changing your answer” below opens the same choice, and declining there is remembered permanently no matter where you are.
Advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google Signals are a separate matter and stay denied everywhere, in every region, whatever you answer; see the next paragraph.
Advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google Signals are switched off permanently rather than by default. There is no code path on this site that turns them on, so accepting buys Google Analytics and nothing beyond it. We do not run ads, do not build remarketing audiences, and have nothing to sell that would be improved by either.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
This runs for everyone, including people who declined, because it needs no permission: it sets no cookie, stores no identifier on your device, and cannot follow you to another site, since there is nothing persistent to follow you with. What it reports is aggregate: how many people viewed a page, roughly where in the world they were, which browser, and which site linked them here.
What is recorded, in both cases
- The page address you are on, and the page that linked you to it
- Country, browser and whether the screen is a phone or a desktop
- Which buttons and links get clicked, and how far down a page people read
- Which questions in a FAQ get opened
Nothing typed into a form is recorded. The contact form reports only that somebody began writing and that somebody sent it; the words are not read by the analytics layer and never leave your browser except in the email you choose to send. No reminder, no saved page, no note and no address you have saved in the extension appears here or could, because the extension does not communicate with this website.
The two things stored without asking
Both are localStorage, not cookies: they are never attached to a request,
so no server, this one included, ever receives them.
latr-theme holds the single word light or dark,
so the site does not flash the wrong theme at you on the next page load.
latr-consent holds granted or denied, so the
banner does not ask you the same question every time and so an answer you gave
deliberately outranks whatever your region’s default would have been. Neither can
identify you; each is one of two words.
Changing your answer
This clears the stored answer and shows the banner again. Clearing your browser’s site data does the same thing, and also removes the theme preference.
What is not here
- No advertising or remarketing tags, and no Google Signals
- No embedded fonts from a font CDN
- No embedded video players
- No social media widgets or share buttons that phone home
- No session cookies, because there are no sessions and no accounts
- No third-party analytics beyond the two named above
Server logs
The site is served as static files by a hosting provider, which, like every web host, processes connection information such as IP addresses in order to deliver the page and to defend against abuse. We do not build profiles from it and have no way to connect it to any reminder you have created, because reminders never reach the network.
The extension
None of this applies to the Latr extension, and that is the important part. The extension sets no cookies, contains no analytics of any kind, and a free installation makes no network requests at all. It stores your reminders in the browser’s own extension storage, on your machine. The only request it can ever make is a licence check, and only if you have bought Pro and pasted a key. If this ever changes
If anything is added, removed or changed here, this page and the privacy policy change in the same release rather than afterwards. A policy that lags the software is worse than none, because it is a false statement about data handling.
