Privacy policy
Latr does not collect, transmit, or sell your data. This page explains what that means precisely, and names every case where anything at all leaves your machine — all of which you choose.
Reminders you create — the page title, the page address, the time you chose, an optional note you write, and an optional thumbnail of the page — are stored on your own device using your browser’s extension storage. Your reminders are never sent to us. There is no server that stores them, no account they belong to, and no copy of them anywhere but your own browser.
A free install makes no network requests at all. Not for updates, not for telemetry, not for anything. If you never buy Pro, the extension never contacts us while it is installed.
Removing Latr opens one page. When you uninstall, your browser opens latr.page/uninstall — a page that asks what went wrong. We mention it here because it is the one moment the extension causes a request, and we would rather you read it from us than notice a tab you did not open.
That address carries nothing about you. No version, no identifier, no count of what you had saved, no query string at all — it is the same static page for everybody, so the request tells us only that somebody, somewhere, uninstalled. The form on it submits nowhere: if you answer, the page composes an email in your own mail app or puts the text on your clipboard, and you decide whether to send it. Closing the tab leaves us with nothing.
Latr Pro licences
If you buy Pro, the extension sends your licence key and nothing else
to latr.page/api/license — once when you activate it, and at most once a
week afterwards to check it is still valid. No reminder, no page address, no title, and
no identifier for you is included, because none of those is needed to answer whether a
licence is good.
That endpoint runs on Cloudflare Workers and exists for one reason: our payment provider can confirm a licence key is valid but not that it belongs to our product, and the API that can answer requires a merchant key that cannot safely live inside an extension. Payment itself is handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record; we never see your card details. Their privacy policy covers the purchase.
Sync
If you turn on sync, your reminders are additionally stored in your browser profile’s sync storage and travel between your own signed-in browsers via your browser vendor. Thumbnails are excluded and never sync. This is off by default. Your browser vendor’s handling of that data is covered by their privacy policy, not ours — the relationship is between you and them.
What Latr can read
Latr reads a page’s title and address only at the moment you save a reminder for it, and only for the tab you are looking at. It cannot read pages in the background, and it has no access to pages you have not explicitly saved. If you use bookmark import, Latr reads only the folder you select — and that permission is requested from the import screen rather than at install, so it never appears on the install dialog.
Share links and this website
A shared reminder is encoded into the part of the link after the #.
Browsers never transmit that part to a server, so the reminder in a share link is not
sent to this website and cannot be logged by it. This site is static: it has no
database and no cookies. Page views are counted with cookieless Cloudflare Web
Analytics — see the cookie policy. A share link carries the title, address and
time only — your note is never included, because it was written for you.
Calendar handoff
If you ask Latr to add a reminder to Google Calendar or Outlook, it opens that
service’s own “new event” page with the title, time, note and address
filled in. That is a link you click, not a background transfer, and nothing is sent
anywhere until you save the event there. Choosing the .ics option instead
writes a file to your computer and contacts nobody at all. What those services do with
an event you create is covered by their own privacy policies.
Exports
Exporting produces a file on your own computer. Nothing is uploaded.
Your rights
Because the data never reaches us, most data-protection requests are things you can perform yourself and immediately: your data is already on your machine, export produces a portable copy, and “delete everything” in the settings — or uninstalling — erases it. There is no account to close and no copy for us to return or delete, because there is no copy.
Changes
If the extension ever starts sending something somewhere, this page changes in the same release — not afterwards. That rule exists because a privacy policy that lags the software is worse than none: it is a false statement about data handling.
