Nothing arrives inside it
No tab opens, no notification, no sound. A reminder that comes due in the window waits, with a label in the queue saying why.
A page you saved for 2am does not need to open at 2am. Set quiet hours and Latr holds any reminder that comes due inside them, then brings the tab back the moment the window ends - nothing dropped, nothing moved.
What a quiet window does
Most reminder tools either ring at the wrong moment or, if you silence them, lose the reminder along with the noise. Quiet hours do neither.
No tab opens, no notification, no sound. A reminder that comes due in the window waits, with a label in the queue saying why.
When the window ends, the held reminders are delivered: each tab reopens where you stopped reading, with its notification.
A hold never rewrites the reminder. A daily 2am reminder held until 7am is still a daily 2am reminder tomorrow.
Setting it up
One window takes under a minute, and it is free.
From the popup's menu, or right-click Latr's toolbar icon and choose Options.
Half-hour steps, or type any time into either list. A window across midnight, like 22:30 to 07:00, is one window - no need to split it.
Save reminders as usual. Anything due overnight arrives at 7:00, together, with its tabs reopened in the background.
Three kinds of quiet
The same hold, started three ways. Each one delays a delivery; none of them can lose one.
Free: one window. Pro: several
A schedule you set once: nights, or working hours if you keep personal reminders for the evening. With Pro, add a lunch hour or a weekly meeting block beside it.
Free
Start a Pomodoro round and reminders wait for the break. A break is yours, so nothing is held through it.
Optional
Turn on the screen guard and a reminder due while a window is full screen - a slide deck, a shared screen, a film - waits until you leave full screen.
What quiet hours do not do is silence anything that is not Latr. Notifications from other sites and from the browser itself are theirs, and Latr leaves them alone; your operating system's own focus mode is the tool for those. And for the rare reminder that must reach you even at 3am, hand it to your phone with the calendar handoff, which quiet hours do not reach.
Quiet hours suit any reminder that has a natural home in the day: the recurring reminder for a weekly report, the snoozed tab you want tomorrow, or the work tabs that should be back at nine and never at midnight.
Questions
No. Quiet hours hold Latr’s own reminders only. Other sites’ notifications and the browser’s own are not Latr’s to hold, and it does not touch them. For those, use your operating system’s focus or do-not-disturb mode alongside.
It is held, and delivered the moment the window ends: the tab reopens and the notification arrives. It is never dropped. Its time is not rewritten either, so a reminder that repeats daily at 2am stays a 2am reminder; only that one delivery waits.
Yes. A held reminder carries a “held for quiet hours” label in the queue and counts down to the end of the window, so the reason a notification has not arrived is on screen rather than a mystery.
One window is free, which covers nights or working hours. Several - nights plus a lunch hour, say - are part of Latr Pro. Windows that touch are treated as one, so a night ending at 7:00 and a block starting at 7:00 do not release a burst of reminders at exactly seven.
Then Latr delivers straight away. With no moment when the window ends, a held reminder would never arrive, and a reminder that never arrives is worse than one that arrives at an awkward time.
Yes. While a focus round is running, reminders that come due wait, and they are delivered on the break. A break is yours, so nothing is held through it. Optionally, anything that comes due while a window is full screen - a presentation, a shared screen - waits too.
No. A delay you asked for is not lateness. A reminder held by quiet hours or a focus session is recorded as delivered on time; only one that arrives late because the browser was closed is marked late.
