Quiet hours

Setting a window

Settings → Notifications → Quiet hours. Pick a start and an end from half-hour steps, or type a time straight into either list if you want something off the grid.

A window that crosses midnight is normal and expected — 22:30 to 07:00 is the common one, and Latr handles it without you having to split it into two.

Held is not rescheduled

This is the whole design, and it is worth being precise about. When a reminder comes due inside a quiet window, Latr records that it is being held and delivers it when the window ends. The reminder's own time is never overwritten.

Why that matters: if a hold rewrote the time, a daily 2am reminder held until 7am would become a daily 7am reminder permanently, because the next occurrence would step from where the hold left it. Held reminders show a held for quiet hours chip in the queue, so the reason a notification you expected has not appeared is on screen rather than a mystery.

More than one window

You can have several — overnight plus a focus block in the afternoon, say. They behave independently, with one deliberate exception: adjacent windows chain. A night window ending at 07:00 and a morning block starting at 07:00 are treated as one continuous hold rather than releasing a burst of notifications at exactly seven o'clock and immediately silencing them again.

What if the windows cover the whole day

Then Latr delivers anyway, immediately.

That is deliberate. If quiet hours tile the entire day there is no "when the window ends" to wait for, and a reminder held forever is the product failing at its only job. A reminder arriving during a quiet hour is a nuisance; a reminder that never arrives is a broken promise, so the tie is broken towards delivering.

Quiet hours, snooze and pause

All three are shown in the queue, and the two that mean "a notification you expected is not coming right now" carry the amber signal so you can see the reason at a glance. The life of a reminder has the full set of states.
