If your licence lapses

What keeps working

Everything that makes a reminder arrive. That is a design rule rather than a courtesy, and it is worth explaining why.

A licence check can fail for reasons that have nothing to do with you — a network outage, a card that expired, the licence service having a bad day. If any of those could stop a reminder firing, then Latr would be a product that occasionally fails at the one job you trusted it with. So the licence is read only by the parts that draw and decorate, never by the part that delivers.

Concretely, none of this is ever affected:

• Every reminder you have saved, and every one you save afterwards
• Reminders firing, repeating, and rolling forward
• Quiet hours, snooze, early warning and priority
• All four ways to save, including the right-click presets
• Sync, the calendar handoff, share links
• Backup, restore and CSV export
• Your tags, folders, templates, saved views and domain rules — all still there

What changes

• The theme returns to the built-in look. Your chosen theme is remembered, not deleted.
• Notification sounds stop playing. Your sound settings and any files you uploaded are kept.
• The theme editor and sound settings become read-only, marked with a Pro badge rather than hidden — so you can still see what they were set to.
• Dependencies stop being offered on new reminders.
• The free limits apply again to folders, templates, saved views and domain rules.

If you are over a free limit

Nothing is deleted, ever. If you made six folders as a Pro user and your licence lapses, you still have six folders and they all still work. Latr simply will not create a seventh until the licence is active again.

Declining to make a new one is a limit. Removing something you already made would be confiscation, and those are very different things.

Offline is not a lapse

Latr re-checks a licence at most once a week, quietly, in the background. If that check cannot reach the network — you are on a plane, or the service is down — the licence keeps its current status and is simply checked again next time.

An unreachable server is not a refund. Pro does not switch off because your wifi did.

Coming back

Activate the licence again in Settings → About Latr, and everything returns at once: your theme is reapplied, your sounds resume, the limits lift, and dependencies are offered again. Nothing needs setting up a second time, because nothing was thrown away.
