I deleted something by accident

The undo

Delete a reminder and an undo appears immediately in the popup. Take it and the reminder comes back under the same identity, with its schedule re-armed, its tag, its folder and its repeat rule intact. It is a genuine restore, not a re-creation from what was on screen.

The same applies to bulk deletes: selecting twelve reminders and deleting them offers one undo that brings all twelve back.

Why there is no confirm dialog

A confirmation dialog in a 384px popup costs you something every single time you delete anything, in exchange for protecting the rare mistake. An undo costs you nothing until you make the mistake, and then it fixes it completely.

The delete is real straight away rather than deferred, so nothing can fire out of a half-deleted state while you decide.

If the undo is gone

Once the popup has closed, the undo has gone with it. Two routes remain:

• Restore a JSON backup, if you have one. Reminders are added rather than replacing what is there, so anything you have made since is safe — you may end up with duplicates of things that exist in both.
• Check Recent activity. If the reminder had already fired, it may still be in the seven-day history in the popup, which at least tells you what it was so you can save it again.

If you use sync, be aware the deletion travelled to your other browsers too. There is no untouched copy waiting on the other machine.

Undoing a whole import

A bookmark or link-list import is stamped as a single batch, so removing it is one action rather than deleting two hundred reminders by hand. See importing bookmarks and link lists.

Deleting is not completing

If what you wanted was "I have dealt with this", use Mark as done rather than delete. Completing keeps the record — it stays in your history and in a CSV export, and it can spawn a follow-up reminder if you declared one.

Deleting throws the record away along with the obligation. Both are fine; they are just different, and completion is usually the one people actually meant. See the life of a reminder.
