If notifications never appear

First, confirm it is this

Open the popup and look at Recent activity. If reminders are listed there as fired but you never saw a notification, Latr is working and something after it is swallowing the toast. That is what this page fixes.

If nothing is listed at all, the reminder never came due — go to my reminder did not fire instead.

Windows

Three settings, in the order they most often cause this:

1. Focus assist / Do not disturb. Open Settings → System → Notifications. Turn Do not disturb off. On Windows 11 also check Turn on do not disturb automatically underneath — the rules for duplicating a display or playing a game catch far more people than they should.
2. Notifications for Chrome specifically. On the same screen, scroll to the app list and make sure Google Chrome is on. An app can be switched off here without any other symptom.
3. Banners, not just the action centre. Click Google Chrome in that list and confirm Show notification banners is on. With it off, notifications arrive silently into the action centre and never appear on screen — which looks exactly like nothing happening.

macOS

1. Focus. Open System Settings → Focus and check no Focus is active or scheduled over the times your reminders fire. A Focus set up once and forgotten is the commonest cause on a Mac.
2. Chrome's notification permission. Go to System Settings → Notifications → Google Chrome and turn Allow notifications on.
3. Alerts rather than banners. On the same screen, set the alert style to Alerts. Banners disappear on their own after a few seconds; alerts stay until you answer them, which is what you want for a reminder.

Chrome itself

Chrome can suppress notifications independently of the operating system. Open chrome://settings/content/notifications and check that Use quieter messaging is off. It is designed for websites asking for notification permission, but it also mutes extension notifications on some versions.

Testing it

Do not test with a reminder set for next week. Save one for two minutes from now on any page, leave the browser open, and wait. That isolates the notification path from everything else — if it appears, notifications work and the original problem was the reminder's timing rather than its delivery.

If two minutes from now produces nothing, and every setting above is correct, tell us and include your operating system and Chrome version. Those two facts answer most of what we would otherwise have to ask.
