Install and pin
Two minutes: install it, pin the icon so it is always there, then confirm your operating system will actually show notifications. The third step is the one people skip and then wonder why nothing arrives.
1. Install
Latr installs from the Chrome Web Store and works in every Chromium browser — Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Arc and Opera all install from the same listing. On Firefox it installs from Firefox Add-ons.
Get Latr, then confirm the permission prompt. It asks for very little, and what each permission is for is listed on the privacy page.
2. Pin the icon
Chrome hides new extensions behind the puzzle-piece icon by default. Pin Latr or you will forget it exists:
- Click the puzzle-piece icon to the right of the address bar.
- Find Latr in the list.
- Click the pin beside it.
The icon now sits in the toolbar permanently. It doubles as the reminder counter — the badge on it shows how many reminders are pending, so a glance tells you whether anything is waiting.
3. Check notifications work
This is the step that matters. Latr can be working perfectly and you will still see nothing if your operating system is set to suppress notifications — and the symptom looks identical to a broken extension.
The fastest check:
- Open any page.
- Click the Latr icon, then Remind me about this page.
- Type
in 2 minutesin the When field. - Save it, leave the browser open, and wait.
If a notification appears, everything works. If it does not, go to if notifications never appear — it has the exact settings for Windows and macOS, and takes about a minute.
Optional: the keyboard shortcut
Latr suggests Alt+Shift+Y to save the current tab at your default time — an hour from now until you change it, under Settings → New reminder defaults — without opening anything. Chrome sometimes leaves a suggested shortcut unassigned if another extension already claimed it.
Check or change it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Latr always shows the
key you actually have bound rather than the one it suggested, so the tips in the popup
stay accurate if you rebind it.
That is setup complete. Next: save your first real reminder.
